Man charged with trying to break into cars in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 23-year-old man was arrested after a witness saw him trying to break into several cars in a Bradenton neighborhood, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 1:50 a.m. Friday, the witness saw James Patrick Walsh trying to open multiple car doors in the 5900 block of Palm Drive, according to a news release.

Deputies arrived and Walsh fled on a bicycle. A perimeter was established, and deputies found Walsh almost a half-mile away.

During an interview, Walsh admitted to trying to break into the cars. A police dog also tracked right to where Walsh was stopped, according to the sheriff's office.

Walsh, who is charged with three counts of burglary, was being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $15,000.
