Fifteenth annual Thunder By The Bay Motorcycle Festival: various location, Sarasota

The 15th Annual Thunder By The Bay Motorcycle Festival continues with the Downtown Festival 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 6 featuring live music by Tangent, Bobby Friss and The Marshall Tucker Band. The "Cruise for Cash" Scenic Beach Ride will be 11 a.m. with registration beginning at 9 a.m. at O'Leary's Tiki Bar and Grill, 5 Bayfront Dr., and a 15 Class Bike Show along South Palm Avenue 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Jan. 6. Annual Sarasota Orchid Society Show and Sale: Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

The annual Sarasota Orchid Society's "A Symphony of Orchids" Show and Sale will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 6 showcasing thousands of award-winning orchids in the displays created by orchid vendors and local orchid societies. A variety of orchids and orchid-related accessories will also be available for purchase and there will also be free educational classes given by our local growers. Chowder Challenge Benefit: Bridge Street, Anna Maria

A creative chowder cook-off, the Chowder Challenge on Bridge Street, will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 6. Attendees can sample some of the most delicious traditional and inventive chowder recipes from acclaimed local chefs and culinary aficionados form Anna Maria Island. Tickets: $5. Profits will benefit the American Cancer Society's 2013 Relay for Life team. Entry to the Bridge Street Market and the Tangled Mangoes music jam are free. Beach Market: Coquina Beach, Bradenton Beach

The Beach Market at Coquina Beach will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 6 featuring fresh produce, arts and crafts, jewelry, local artists, sand sculptures, apparel, purses, scarves, pottery, furniture, collectibles, woodworks and more.
