Pedestrian seriously injured in Sarasota

SARASOTA -- A 21-year-old Venice man was seriously injured Saturday after he ran into the path of a car near a McDonald's restaurant in Sarasota, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Blake Memorial Hospital after the accident at 2:10 p.m. in the driveway of a McDonald's restaurant at 1720 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, the report said.

The car involved was westbound on the driveway access approaching the restaurant when the man ran across the driveway into the car's path, the report said. The two people in the car were not injured, the report said.
