MANATEE -- A 33-year-old man was shot in the foot by a gunman who came into his backyard Thursday evening, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 6:30 p.m., the victim and another man were having a bonfire in the backyard of a residence in the 1100 block of 51st Avenue East, when two suspects came into the yard and ran after them, according to a news release.

One of the victims ran into his house, and the other ran to the front yard, where he was shot in the left foot. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff's office said.

The suspects fled eastbound in a four-door car, according to the report.
