MANATEE -- Two people were hurt in a hit-and-run crash in Palmetto late Sunday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

About 9:55 p.m., at the intersection of 21st Street East and 20th Lane East, a vehicle was stopped facing west on 21st Street East when a vehicle heading east on 21st Street East traveled into the westbound lane, struck the left side of the other vehicle and then failed to stop, according to a report.

Two teenage girls riding in the second vehicle suffered minor injuries; the driver, 18, was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, and the report did not indicate whether the 16-year-old passenger was hospitalized.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a 1997 Ford sport utility vehicle.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver can call FHP at 239-938-1800.
