MANATEE -- Two persons who went to a duplex to buy marijuana late Saturday night had their car shot up, but escaped uninjured, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The victims went to the duplexes at 3300 5th Street East to buy marijuana from a dealer about 11 p.m. Saturday. After making the purchase, two unknown males came out of the shadows from about 40 feet away and started shooting for no reason, the victims told investigators.
They fled to a relative's sisters home over three miles away, by-passing the Manatee County Sheriff's Office Operations Center, less than one mile away, before calling to make a report, the sheriff's office reported Sunday.
When deputies met with the victims they found the vehicle to have one bullet hole entering the passenger side rear window and exiting the driver's window. Deputies found one projectile above the front passenger door and another in the window frame of the rear passenger door.
