SCF conquers competition at own tournament

BRADENTON -- The State College of Florida Manatees are kings of the SCF Classic.

The Manatees continued their scoring binge, beating ASA College of New York 98-93 Monday in the tournament's title game at Hal Chasey Gymnasium.

SCF (13-3) has been piling up points aplenty lately, beating Indian River State College 93-66 on Sunday to reach the title game and ringing up 136 in Saturday night's victory over the St. Thomas University junior varsity.

On Monday, Isaiah Williams had 24 points to lead the Manatees, Anders Haas and Savad Garner had 20 apiece, and Larry Keys chipped in 15.

The Avengers had a chance to tie the game with five seconds remaining with the score 96-93, but they missed a 3-point attempt. Haas was fouled and sank two free throws to seal the victory for the Manatees.

Up next for SCF is Community College of Rhode Island on Dec. 29 in Fort Lauderdale.
