Entries for ADDY Awards being accepted

SARASOTA -- AAF-Suncoast has begun accepting entries for the 2013 ADDY Awards. Entry deadline is Jan. 16.

The ADDY awards are an annual three-tiered national competition conducted by the American Advertising Federation to honor and recognize exceptional advertising.

To be eligible for the professional competition, work must have been created in the Suncoast or southwest Florida regions from Bradenton to Naples, must have been created for an actual customer, and must have been published or aired between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012.

Student competition eligibility requires enrollment in an accredited U.S. educational institution.

This is the first year that all entries will begin with online registration using new ADDY software available at: www.aafsuncoast.com/ADDY. A print-out of the online registration must be submitted in an entry packet. Digital entries and/or images of the work will be uploaded, and non-digital entries will be submitted in the packet, along with a mounted display board for gallery showing.

Packet pick-up and drop-off sites in the Sarasota area are: Signs Now, 1693 Main St., Suite B, Sarasota; and Coldwell Banker, 5951 Cattleridge Ave., Sarasota. Additional pick-up and drop-off locations are on the website.

Judging for the local competition will be on Feb. 1-3. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the "Alice in Wonderland" ADDY Gala in Selby Gardens on Feb. 21.

Project Rainbow asking for toy donations

SARASOTA -- Project Rainbow is asking for toy donations for the 2012 Holiday season.

Beverly Hunter, associate director of sales for the Holiday Inn Airport, has served and has been actively involved in Project Rainbow, which has served as a community resource since 1982. Its goal is to provide relief for caregivers and families with chronically ill and disabled children.

The project's current mission supports a local effort to provide children up to 16 years of age who are disabled by traumatic brain injuries, or have multiple sclerosis or Down syndrome, with Christmas gifts.

Gulf Auto Clinic earns Angie's List award

BRADENTON -- Gulf Auto Clinic, 807 18th Ave. W., has earned the 2012 Angie's List Super Service Award, an honor awarded annually to approximately 5 percent of all the companies rated on Angie's List, the nation's leading provider of consumer reviews on local service companies.

Angie's List Super Service Award 2012 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, including earning a minimum number of reports, an excellent rating from their customers and abiding by Angie's List operational guidelines.
