The pride of Bradenton -- the internationally known pop-punk band We the Kings -- is coming home for the holidays again for yet another special concert. This time, though, the band's annual Hometown Holiday Show, its sixth, will be free -- a first.

The Dec. 27 performance at The Hall in Palmetto will no doubt be packed to the rafters.

"We wanted to do something where we could give back," singer/guitarist Travis Clark told the Herald's Wade Tatangelo by phone from his new Hollywood digs. "It's our friends and family and only seems right to give back to the community."

Clark (lead vocals) and bandmates Hunter Thomsen (guitar, backing vocals) and Danny Duncan (drums) grew up here. All attended King Middle School, thus the band's name.

A 2003 Manatee High graduate, Clark still maintains a residence here (occupied by Duncan) -- part of the band's hometown pride that is reciprocated. Last year, the Manatee County Commission honored them with "We the Kings Day."

Concert-goers will be treated to some of the band's new, unreleased music.

"I like to play brand new songs for our family and friends in the 941," Clark said. "It's nice to be able to release music in your hometown."
