Foreclosures increase in Florida in 3Q

Third quarter foreclosure sales in Florida increased nearly 47 percent from the second quarter and nearly 17 percent from a year ago, according to new data released today by RealtyTrac.

State sales reached 24,712 homes in the third quarter with an average sales price of $121,885.

Nationally, a total of 193,059 U.S. properties in some stage of foreclosure or bank-owned were sold during the third quarter, an increase of 21 percent from the previous quarter, but still down 3 percent from the third quarter of 2011.

The report also shows that foreclosure-related sales accounted for 19 percent of all U.S. residential sales during the third quarter -- down from 20 percent in the previous quarter but the same level as in the third quarter of 2011.

National certification offered by Suncoast

SARASOTA -- Suncoast Workforce, in partnership with State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, will offer an opportunity for unemployed or under-employed workers to earn the nationally recognized, portable certified production technician certification in the manufacturing field.

Information sessions will be held Monday and Dec. 20 at 9 a.m. at the Suncoast Workforce Career Center, 3660 N. Washington Blvd. Financial assistance is available through Suncoast Workforce for eligible entry-level and mid-level management applicants.

The 80-hour course covers the basics of advanced manufacturing in the categories including safety awareness, production and processes, maintenance awareness and quality assurance.

The three-week class will be offered Feb. 18 through March 7, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the SCF Traffic Safety Institute, 1991 Main St., Suite 123, Sarasota.

ITW Military GSE signs deal with Kuwait Air Force

PALMETTO -- ITW Military GSE, a division of Hobart Ground Systems, has been selected to provide two of its JO3C combination electric power and air conditioning carts to the Kuwait Air Force.

The US Navy selected the JO3C to provide 400 Hz electric power and pre-conditioned cooling air to support the Kuwait Air Force F-18 fighter aircraft. The cart was designed to provide an external source of aircraft electric power and cooling air simultaneously.
