Sarasota’s iconic bayfront statue, "Unconditional Surrender," is in the process of being re-installed with the help of a crane after a motorist damaged it in April of this year. The 26-foot statue was returned to New Jersey for repairs to the sailor’s foot and other cracks before returning to its’ waterfront home. Artist Seward Johnson created the piece to mimic the famous photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square after the surrender of the Japanese in World War II.
