The scoop: The Hurricanes have won 24 straight and are ranked No. 1 nationally by ESPN, MaxPreps and USA Today. This is their fourth straight trip to a regional final and sixth since coach Joe Kinnan returned to the sideline in 2005, but this marks their first postseason game played in an opponent's stadium since the 2010 Class 5A at Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas. After missing last week with an ankle injury, junior RB Trevon Walters (945 yards) is 100 percent and returns Friday. Manatee will also use freshman Johnnie Lang, who rushed for 84 yards and a pair of touchdowns last week, but will be without DB Willie Smith (ligament tear in a knee), who is done for the year. In his place is junior Greg Reaves, who has 23 tackles and an interception this year. The Cobras are back in a regional final after losing last year's championship game 13-10 to Manatee in Bradenton. They are ranked 93rd in the country by Rivals and are led by RB Marcus Levy, a Cincinatti commit who has rushed for 787 yards and 16 TDs in just eight games. QB Sam Vaughn, a junior, has thrown for 1,859 yards and 21 TDs, while WR Josh Knight, a Marshall commit, has 27 catches. Leading the receivers is Jameel Jackson (33 catches), who has about a half dozen Division I offers. The winner of this game heads to either Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson or Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas next week for the a Class 7A state semifinal.
