BRADENTON -- Medallion Home, a builder of semi-custom homes, is partnering with Clare Controls, to provide automated systems in new homes.
The systems provide automation of locks, alarms, security cameras, lighting, thermostats, music and television.
Clare Controls provides base systems and options that homeowners use to configure their solutions prior to construction.
Medallion Home will include a ClareOS Controller -- the "brain" of the system -- as a standard in its The Inlets and Riva Trace Communities.
SARASOTA -- The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce recently recognized medical simulation company CAE Healthcare, formerly known as METI, with a "Hiring Our Neighbors" award.
CAE Healthcare employs more than 150 in sales, engineering, technical and customer support, marketing, finance, manufacturing assembly and quality assurance positions.

Businesses hold holiday book drive
BRADENTON -- Three local businesses are holding a holiday book drive for students of Team Success, a Title 1 charter school in Bradenton.
Alltrust Insurance is a sponsor of the book drive, along with Gateway Bank and Al Purmort Insurance.
The book drive will be held from now until Dec. 15. The public is asked to donate new or used books for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The drop-off locations are Gateway Bank, 2100 Manatee Ave. W., and 1100 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota; Al Purmort Insurance, 3340 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota and Team Success school, 202 13th Ave. E., Bradenton.
