Five Southern women, whose friendship started many years ago on their college swim team, ditch the husbands, children and jobs every August and meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives.
That's the premise of "The Dixie Swim Club," a comedy/drama by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, Jamie Wooten opening today at the Island Players.
It stars Melissa Anderson, Linda Dickson, Jennifer Eddy, Judy Glynn and Diana Shoemaker.
Kelly Wynn Woodland is the director with stage manager Phyllis Elfenbein.
Details: 8 p.m. with 2 p.m. Sunday matinees Nov. 29-Dec. 9, Island Players, 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria. Tickets: $15. Information: 941-778-5755 or www.theislandplayers.org.
