Theodis Peterson, DWI, fleeing scene of injury accident, other charges, $20,000 bond.

MANATEE -- A 35-year-old Sarasota man faces a drunk driving charge after he started an accident, and fled, on U.S. 41 on Tuesday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The suspect and the drivers of two other involved vehicles suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Theodis Peterson was traveling north on U.S. 41 near Braden Avenue when he collided with a car in the left turn lane and pushed it into the path of a third vehicle heading south on U.S. 41, according to a report.

Peterson fled the scene but was later located on Westmoreland Drive in Manatee County and arrested, FHP said.

Peterson was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment. The other two drivers, a 65-year-old Sarasota woman and a 77-year-old Bradenton woman, were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Peterson faces multiple charges, including DWI, leaving the scene of an injury accident, resisting arrest and violating probation. He was being held Wednesday at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $20,000.
