Learn about Guardian ad Litem, have a coffee

BRADENTON -- John Sakelaris, a representative of the Guardian ad Litem group for Manatee County, will be at Starbucks, 102 Manatee Ave. E., from 10-11 a.m. Friday to answer questions and recruit volunteers wanting to join the group. Guardian ad litems are appointed by the court to speak for, and advocate services for, under-age children who are living in shelters and need assistance.

Author Diane Adams Taylor to have book signing event

BRADENTON -- Author Diane Adams Taylor of Bradenton will have a book signing event 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mixon's Fruit Farm, 2525 27th St. E.

She will be available to sign copies of her book, "Circles in Time."
