MANATEE -- Santa and his volunteer elves will travel throughout Manatee County on Christmas Eve to deliver toys to the homes of children who have been referred by local social service organizations and schools.

Rudolph's Red Nose Express was created in 2001 by ManaTEEN Volunteers who wanted to make certain that all children in the community receive toys on Christmas. Since that time, more than 250 local kids have been surprised by a visit from the Jolly Old Elf himself.

Donations of new toys are gratefully accepted at Trap Ink Tattoos, 5131 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

The program is made possible thanks to the generosity of Trap Ink Tattoos, Florida Winefest and Auction, and Volunteer Florida's BEST Neighborhoods.

Sports car enthusiastsjoin in Toys for Tots drive

EAST MANATEE -- The Gulf Coast Corvette Club and Mustang Club of West Central Florida are joining forces for the 16th annual Toys for Tots Car, Truck, and Bike Show 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Beall's parking lot, 7365 52nd Place East.

Cost for participants to show their car is $20 registration fee or a new, unwrapped toy of equal value.

Boutique partners with Compassion International

BRADENTON -- Lily Bliss Boutique, a new women's clothing, jewelry, shoe and accessories store at 5917 Manatee Ave. W., Suite 301, is partnering with Compassion International to provide support for children in need. Compassion International exists as an advocate for children, to release them from their spiritual,

Boyd's office gathering toy donations

BRADENTON -- Rep. Jim Boyd's district office will be accepting donations for Toys for Tots and Manatee County Food Banks.

Anyone interested in donating non-perishable food items and/or new unwrapped toys can drop them off 9 a.m.- noon and 2-4 p.m. Monday-Friday until Dec. 16.

Lakewood Ranch Town Halljoins Manatee food drive

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., is participating in the Manatee County Food Bank Drive. There will be a collection barrel in the Town Hall front lobby until Dec. 19.

Burgers & Brew supports food bank, Toys for Tots

MANATEE -- AJ's Burgers & Brew, 3550 53rd Ave. W., in support of the Manatee Food Bank and Toys for Tots, is asking customers to bring in a nonperishable food item and receive $1 off a burger, sandwich or entrée.

Those who bring in an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots will receive a free beer with the purchase of a burger, sandwich or entrée. All discounts are for dine-in only meals.

Manatee Players partnering on gift drive

MANATEE -- The Manatee Players is partnering with Manatee Children's Services, a Bradenton-based community service that works to benefit abused and neglected children, to collect toys and gifts for local children and teens.

New unwrapped toys and gift items can be dropped off at the Manatee Players, 102 Old Main St. in downtown Bradenton, or directly to the MCS office at 453 Cortez Road in Orange Blossom Plaza.

Gift items for teens are needed, as are wrapping paper, tape and bows.

Super Pawn collecting food, toys for holiday

BRADENTON -- America's Super Pawn, Inc., 5137 14th St. W., is sponsoring its second Season of Giving event benefitting All Faiths Food Bank and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Manatee.

From now until Dec. 18, anyone bringing in a food or toy donation will receive a ticket to enter a drawing for a new Lenovo Ideapad laptop computer.

Parmalee concert proceeds to help military

MANATEE -- One hundred percent of the proceeds from the Parmalee concert set for 10:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at Joyland, 5520 14th St. W., will go to ensure that every military family in the local area with an active deployed spouse in the Middle East gets a great Christmas.

Holiday card project sponsored by IberiaBank

BRADENTON -- IberiaBank continues the "i Gives Back" program with a partnership with the American Red Cross to bring cheer and words of appreciation to our troops.

The bank is providing holiday cards for the public to stop in and sign that will be sent to troops throughout the world. Cards will be available through November at 5310 State Road 64 E., 6351 Manatee Ave. W., and 5844 14th St. W.

Slicks Garage joins Toys for Tots effort

PALMETTO -- Slicks Garage, 923 Fifth St. W., is an official drop-off station for Toys for Tots. In addition, Slicks First Fridays Car Show and Block Party scheduled for Dec. 7 will be dedicated to Toys for Tots.

This is a family friendly event, free to spectators ($5 per registering vehicle) that raises money for the local Palmetto Youth Center.

Annual Be A Santa toa Senior event begins

BRADENTON -- Home Instead Senior Care is sponsoring its eighth annual Be a Santa to a Senior event benefiting nursing home residents in Manatee County. From now until Dec. 12, a tree with names and gift suggestions is located at the Bealls Outlet Westgate store, 3905 Manatee Ave. W. Purchase the gift suggestion and leave the item at the store. AutoMaxx Sarasota serves as food donation center

SARASOTA -- AutoMaxx of Sarasota has announced it will serve as a food donation center for All Faiths Food Bank of Sarasota.

A food donation barrel has been set up with in the dealership at 8490 North N. Tamiami Trail. All Faiths Food Bank encourages donations of: protein-packed foods like canned meats and seafood; canned fruit and juices; canned vegetables; and whole grains, cereal, pasta rice and beans. No glass containers will be accepted.

Donations will be accepted at the dealership through Dec. 17 during business hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

All Faiths Food Bank distributes food to nonprofit agencies offering hunger relief in Sarasota and DeSoto counties.

Facebook likes mean money for Salvation Army

MANATEE -- Air & Energy is doing a Facebook "like" drive for the Manatee County Salvation Army. For every "Like" like on Air & Energy's Facebook page, it will donate $1 to the Manatee County Salvation Army for use this holiday season on things like Christmas dinners, toys for Christmas, and the Angel Tree.

Tink's Lounge pitches infor annual toy drive

MANATEE -- For the third year, Tink's Lounge, 3102 53rd Ave. E., will host Tink's for Tots benefitting the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 2.

Those planning to attend are asked to donate a new toy to the Toys for Tots Foundation.

In return, the first 200 donors will be treated to a free plate of Woody's Bar-B-Q with side dishes.


Jarvis is dropoff point for Toys for Tots

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Kenneth Jarvis PLLC is an official drop-off site for the Toys for Tots program.

Clients and associates are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys at itsLakewood Ranch location, second floor of the Bank of America building off Town Center Parkway.

Donations can be dropped off 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Dec. 14.
