MANATEE — A 31-year-old man was shot seven times and a 21-year-old woman was shot once by a gunman who fled on foot, Manatee deputies reported Friday.

The shooting occurred at 4:38 a.m. Friday in the 1110 block of 60th Avenue Drive East in Manatee, according to a report. The two victims were in the area of 1116 60th Ave Drive E. when their vehicle broke down.

They attempted to get help, but the man got into an argument with another man, who pulled a dark semi-automatic pistol and began to fire at the victims.

The male victim was hit about seven times in his legs, and the woman was hit by one gunshot, the report stated. The victims were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
