Sarasota Film Society has announced the schedule of films for its 23rd annual Cine-World Film Festival is ongoing through Nov. 18, featuring a wide range of quality films from all over the globe, including movies from the USA, Israel, Germany, Australia, South Korea, France, the United Kingdom, Chile, Brazil and more. The line up includes "Quartet," "Silver Linings Playbook," "The Fitzgerald Family," "Christmas," "Head Games," and "Amour." MOSI is hosting a Food Truck Rally, as part of its MOSI After Dark event series, 6-10 p.m. Nov. 16. Attendees will have the opportunity to try food from the area's coolest food trucks, enjoy great games and music, and experience the Museum of Science and Industry at night. Guests can conquer MOSI's Sky Trail Ropes Course and Zip Line in the dark, and check out Ian Fleming's James Bond in "Skyfall" on Florida's largest IMAX DOME Theatre. Fourteenth annual Canine Christmas Festival and Guinness Book of World Record Breaking Attempt of "Come, Sit, Stay": Bishop SPCA Animal Shelter Grounds, 5718 21st Ave. W., Bradenton.
The 14th annual Canine Christmas Festival will be 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 17. This family-friendly and fun event includes all types of activities such as a canine fashion show with celebrity judges, pet portraits with Santa, raffle drawings, obedience and agility demonstrations, American Fido talent show, silent auction, Canine Christmas Cafe, Canine Good Citizen Testing, holiday gifts for pets and pet lovers, nail trimming, 50/50 cash drawings and dog adoption event. The festival is followed by Manatee County tempting to set a world record for the most dogs sitting and staying and one time at 3:30 p.m. The number of dogs with their hind quarters on the ground at the same time has to be over 100 in order to qualify for the records. The public is invited to bring their pooch and get in on the record setting attempt, which will be documented with a photo for verification by the Guinness officials. Admission is free.
