PALMETTO -- The Palmetto Postal Workers annually read hundreds of letters from local children and purchases, wraps and delivers gifts for those most in need.
The postal workers are hosting their second auction 1-4 p.m. Nov. 18 at Country Lakes Village II Clubhouse, 6201 U.S. 41 N.
The public is invited to the fundraiser. All of the proceeds go to the children.
Thanksgiving blood drive under way through Nov. 20
MANATEE -- Florida Blood Services and selected Sweetbay supermarkets, including 5802 14th St. W. and 5805 Manatee Ave. W., have joined forces this holiday season for the Thanks4Giving Blood Drive 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 20.
Blood can also be donated at Florida Blood Services at 216 Manatee Ave. E., Bradenton, and 11161 State Road 70 E., Suite 108, Lakewood Ranch.
All blood donors will receive a wellness check-up and a $10 voucher to Sweetbay Supermarkets, plus be entered into a drawing for $250 toward Bright House Networks' services.
Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can be blood donors. Identification is required prior to donation.

Holiday card project sponsored by IberiaBank

MANATEE -- For the third consecutive year, Tink's Lounge, 3102 53rd Ave. E.,will host Tink's for Totsbenefitting the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 2.
Those planning to attend are asked to donate a new toy to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
In return, the first 200 donors will be treated to a free plate of Woody's Bar-B-Q with side dishes.
Jarvis kicks offannual toy collection
LAKEWOOD RANCH -- Kenneth Jarvis PLLC is an official drop-off site for the Toys for Tots program.
Clients and associates are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys at itsLakewood Ranch location, second floor of the Bank of America building off Town Center Parkway. Donations can be dropped off 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Dec. 14.

Burgers & Brew supports food bank, Toys for Tots
MANATEE -- AJ's Burgers& Brew, 3550 53rd Ave. W., in support of the Man-atee Food Bank and Toys for Tots, is asking customers to bring in a nonperishable food item and receive $1 off a burger, sandwich or entrée.
Those who bring in an unwrapped toy for Toysfor Tots will receive a freebeer with the purchase of a burger, sandwich or entrée.
All discounts are for dine-in only meals.
