MANATEE -- Deputies were looking for a prostitute who early Thursday stabbed a man after he failed to pay for sex, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim told deputies he picked up a prostitute and returned to his residence in the 3100 block of 11th Street Court East. about 2 a.m. After he failed to pay for sex, the woman stabbed the man in the left shoulder and fled, according to a news release.

The injury was not considered life-threatening, and the man was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment.
