Cirque du Soleil's production "Kooza" opens today under a white big top in the parking lot of Tropicana Field.
Written and directed by David Shiner, "Kooza" is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil that combines the circus traditions of acrobatic performance and the art of clowning.
"'Kooza' is about human connection and the world of duality, good and bad," Shiner said in a statement issued by Cirque du Soleil.
"The tone is fun and funny, light and open. The show doesn't take itself too seriously, but it's very much about ideas, too. As it evolves we are exploring concepts such as fear, identity, recognition and power."
Details: Nov. 8-Dec. 9, Tropicana Field, One Tropicana Drive, St Petersburg. Tickets: $43.50-$143.50 (adults); $33-$104.50 (children ages 2-12). Information: 1-800-450-1480 or cirquedusoleil.com.
