Winter storm in northeast cancels flights at Tampa airport

November 7, 2012

An impending nor'easter set to hit the northeast United States has already forced the cancellation of flights from and to Tampa International Airport. But as of 1:50 p.m., there were no related cancellations affecting Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

United, the world's largest airline, suspended most New York City service starting at noon. American Airlines was shutting down in New York at 3 p.m., and was also stopping flights to and from Philadelphia at noon.

Most other airlines asked passengers to reschedule their Northeast flights for a later date.

At Tampa, six departing flights and four arriving flights were canceled by mid-morning.

At SRQ, still on the board were a Jet Blue flight arriving from New York LaGuardia at 4:31 p.m. and a returning flight departing at 5:20 p.m.
