Man stabbed to death, becomes Manatee's 23rd homicide of the year

MANATEE -- A 49-year-old man died Saturday morning after being stabbed while leaving for work in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived at the scene in the 900 block of 61st Avenue Circle East about 6 a.m., where they found Juan Santiago Reyes-Tapia unresponsive.

A deputy performed CPR until EMS arrived on scene. Reyes-Tapia was taken to Blake Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to the sheriff's office, a man and woman approached Reyes-Tapia, an argument began and the male suspect stabbed Reyes-Tapia in the chest.

The suspects fled the scene and were not located.

The male suspect has short hair and a large build. He was wearing black pants, a blue sweatshirt and Converse shoes.

The female suspect is described as thin. She had her black hair pulled into a pony tail and has a tattoo on her neck.

Reyes-Tapias' death is the 23rd homicide in all of Manatee County this year.
