MANATEE -- One man was grazed on the head during a barrage of gunfire from a passing car in Bradenton late Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Eight other people in the residence, including four young children, were not hurt.

About 11:13 p.m., deputies responded to an abandoned 911 call from a residence in the 600 block of 60th Avenue Terrace West. Everyone there denied there was a problem, and deputies cleared the scene, according to a news release.

At 11:47 p.m., gunfire erupted from a passing maroon or black Grand Marquis or Impala heading eastbound passed the residence. Bullets hit a concrete wall, windows and sheet rock.

One bullet entered a front bedroom -- one foot above where the childrens, ages 9, 7, 4 and 2, were asleep on a bed, according to a report.

A 24-year-old man was grazed by a bullet to the back of his head, leaving a 3-4 inch cut. The man refused medical assistance, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies recovered two different types of bullet casings from the scene, according to the report.
