Pedestrian critically injured in hit-and-run in Manatee

MANATEE -- A 41-year-old woman was critically injured when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver while trying to cross U.S. 41 in Bradenton early Tuesday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

About 12:18 a.m. woman, who is from Venice, was hit while trying to cross U.S. 41, from east to west, just south of Montgomery Avenue in southern Manatee County.

The car that hit the woman was northbound, according to FHP. It was described as a maroon-colored car, perhaps a hatchback.

A sideview mirror from the car was found at the scene, according to a report.
