A Palmetto man was beaten and robbed in his apartment complex Saturday morning, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office is reporting.

The victim was talking on his cell phone at about 4:30 a.m. near the laundry room of the apartments in the 900 block of 21st Street E., Palmetto, when he saw a gray Dodge four-door sedan circling the parking lot.

According to the incident report, three men exited the vehicle and began punching the victim. His cell phone and a debit card were stolen during the assault.

The suspects then fled the area in the vehicle, the report said. The victim had minor facial injuries but refused treatment. The report noted the victim was intoxicated and could provide few details about the incident.
