Seath Lauer is on the verge of advancing to the second stage of PGA Tour Q-School.

The former Lakewood Ranch High and Florida State University star fired a 66 in Thursday's third round of the first stage held at Pensacola Country Club.

It leaves Lauer with a 14-under par 196 total and a share of the lead with only Friday's final round remaining.

Just the top 18 and ties advance from the Pensacola site.

Other locals include: former IMG and University of Florida standout Andres Echavarria, who is tied for 7th following a third-round 65 for a 200 total, Bradenton's Sean Jacklin, who is tied for 38th after a 69 on Thursday, and Lakewood Ranch resident Adam Hogue, who is tied for 44th after a 70. The current cut line is 7-under par 203. Jacklin and Hogue are five and seven shots adrift, respectively.

Meanwhile, Manatee County resident Sam Osborne is tied for 33rd alongside the former Bradenton Prep alum Byeong-Hun An at the other Florida site in Port St. Lucie.

Osborne posted a 73, while An fired a 70 as the duo sit with 145 totals.

The top 19 and ties progress from the Port St. Lucie venue, and Osborne and An are three shots outside the current cut.
