Robinson appointed to SCF trustees
TALLAHASSEE -- Gov. Rick Scott appointed Eric W. Robinson to the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota district Board of Trustees on Monday.
Robinson, 43, of Venice, is a managing partner of Robinson, Hanks, Young and Roberts CPA. Previously, Robinson served on the Board of Workforce Florida and the Sarasota County Airport Authority. He has also served on the Florida Board of Accountancy since 2010.
He is appointed for a term ending May 31, 2016.
Haunted Legendsto appear at De Soto

n Family Friendly -- all activities at DeSoween are designed with a family atmosphere in mind and are free. Events are suitable for children and adults of all ages. Event admission and all activities are free.
International Beer Festival on tap on LWR Main Street
LAKEWOOD RANCH-- The International Beer Festival is coming back to Lakewood Ranch for the second year Saturday at Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
Beer sampling is set for 5-9 p.m. Food from local Lakewood Ranch restaurants, as well as a variety of fine wines, will be available for purchase. Entertainment will be provided by Pitbull Toddler. Participants are invited to wear their best Halloween costume and to take part in the $500 costume contest.
A portion of the proceeds from the fest will benefit the Humane Society of Manatee County.

Church to honorlocal couple at tribute
BRADENTON -- The Pentecostal Church of God of Jesus Christ will honor a local businessman and his wife with a tribute celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the church, 304 Martin Luther King Ave. E.
The program, presented by evangelist Marvina Johnson-Allen, will honor Robert and Gloria Magwood, who have been married more than 54 years. Robert Magwood has owned Magwood Barber Shop in the same location in Bradenton for more than 50 years.
