Chowdown for Charityset for Oct. 25
PALMETTO -- The Manatee Chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association is presenting the fourth annual Chowdown for Charity, 6-8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Riverhouse Banquets and Weddings, 955 Riverside Drive, Palmetto.

Guests are invited to rub elbows with exceptional chefs from 10 of the area's top restaurants and sample their finest fare. These restaurants will also compete in a chef's competition judged by Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston, Sen. Mike Bennett, Bay News 9 anchor Summer Smith, and WCTQ disc jockey Maverick Johnson.
Dishes will be judged on appearance, creativity and taste in order to be qualified for the coveted "Best in Show" award, and attendees will be able to sample these dishes.
Bring your pit bull toCoast to Coast Bully Walk
BRADENTON -- Manatee County will be joining the national Coast to Coast Bully Walk (for pit bulls and pit bull mixes) beginning at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at Rossi Park, just east of Ninth Street West along the Manatee River.
The walk will wind its way through downtown Bradenton, ending up back at Rossi Park.
Canine students from the Manatee County Animal Services Adopt-a-bull program will be attending to show what good manners they've learned in the classes.
Oct. 27 is National Pit Bull Awareness day.

Calling all Manatee teensto Teen Summit Breakfast
BRADENTON -- The South Manatee Branch Library, 6081 26th St. W., is calling all teens to a "Teen Summit Breakfast" 10 a.m.- noon Oct. 27.
Join other teens in the area to discuss today's relevant issues and be part of the library's planning and programming for the coming year. Breakfast will be provided for those teens attending. The program is targeted to young adults, ages 11-18. Seating for this free program will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is necessary.
