Downtown Bradenton's newly renamed Main Street Live is back for Riverwalk bash

October 18, 2012

Main Street Live, the popular monthly Bradenton street festival formally known as Get Down Downtown, returns today from 6 to 10 p.m.

Coupled with the Bradenton Riverwalk grand opening ceremony that takes place from 4:30 to 7:30, it should be a mighty celebration downtown.

The Sarasota-based Lauren Mitchell Band will brings its crowd-pleasing brand of blues, soul and rock 'n' roll to the stage on Old Main Street.

There will also be Suncoast Food Trucks and a food court with tables in the intersection area across from the Lost Kangaroo Pub at the free event.

Plus various other vendors as well as all the bars, restaurants and businesses normally open on Old Main Street will be participating.

The organizers at the Old Main Street Merchants Association are reminding people that Main Street Live is "a family friendly event featuring live entertainment, various food truck vendors, local merchants, shopping and more!"

All ages are welcome but attendees must be 21 years or older to be inside the bars. Organizers ask attendees to not bring glass bottles outside; the bars will provide plastic cups if people want to mingle outside with beverage in hand. The drinking establishments on Old Main Street usually stay open as late as 2:30 a.m.

Parking is available in the downtown garage on 12th Street West across from the Bank of America building, the county garage located on 10th St. W. just off Manatee Avenue and in the City Hall parking lot at the corner of 12th Street West (Old Main Street) and Third Avenue.

Details: 5-10 p.m. Oct. 18, Old Main St., Bradenton. Admission: Free. Information: 941-896-8860 or
