Bradenton's Rachel Connor shoots 71 at LPGA Q-School qualifying

Bradenton resident Rachel Connor opened with a 71 in the LPGA Tour Q-School's Second Stage on Tuesday.

Connor, playing the Bobcat Course at Venice's Plantation Golf and Country Club, is tied for 25th after the first round.

The top 70 and ties following Friday's final round advance to the Final Stage in Daytona Beach starting Nov. 28.

Other locals playing were Ginger Howard (72, tied for 42nd), Natalie Sheary (73, tied for 64th), Seema Sadekar (75, tied for 112th) and Mia Piccio (77, tied for 140th). France's Fiona Puyo leads the tournament after a 65 on the Panther Course.
