MANATEE — The final day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 elections is Tuesday.

Those who want to vote have until 5 p.m. to register, according to Bob Sweat, the Manatee County supervisor of elections.

Asked if there are lots of newly-registered voters, Sweat said, “There are quite a few.”

He’s also getting plenty of requests for absentee ballots, he said, due to the length of this year’s ballot.

“This morning, the phone was just ringing off the hook,” he said.

As of Monday morning, there were 206,940 registered voters in Manatee County, according to the supervisor of elections website, www.votemanatee.com.
