Man's wallet snatched after paying taxi fare in Manatee

October 7, 2012

MANATEE -- A man who had just paid for a taxi ride had his wallet stolen between 2 and 3 a.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of 53rd Avenue West, according to the Manatee Sheriff's Office.

As he paid his fare, two females called him over to the car where they were sitting. As he approached the vehicle, a male snatched the wallet from his hand and got into the vehicle with the two females, the sheriff's office reported.

When the victim reached into the car to get his wallet, the male punched him in the mouth. The victim was intoxicated at the time and did not immediately call law enforcement.
