Democratic committee to meet

BRADENTON -- The Manatee Democratic Executive Committee will meet for its monthly meeting 5:30 p.m. Oct. 1, at the Bradenton Central Library, 1301 Barcarotta Blvd.

Women's GOP Clubto host candidates

BRADENTON --The Women of Manatee County Republican Club will meet Oct. 5 at the Bradenton Country Club, 4646 9th Ave. W.

Social time is set for 11:30 a.m., followed by the lunch meeting that takes place at noon.

Guest speaker and state senate candidate Bill Galvano is scheduled to discussed the proposed amendments on the general election ballot.

Also speaking will be Vanessa Baugh, running for Manatee County Commission, and David Miner and Robert Moates, school board candidates.

LAKEWOOD RANCH -- The Lakewood Ranch Democratic Club meets 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd.

East Manatee GOP to discuss amendments

PERIDIA -- The East Manatee Republican Club will meet for lunch 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Peridia Golf and Country Club, 4950 Peridia Blvd.

Cost of the luncheon: $15.

The program will be a discussion of the 11 amendments to the Florida Constitution that will appear on the ballot in November. Also, all Republican candidates have been invited.

Southeast Manatee Democrats to host meeting

PERIDIA -- The Southeast Manatee County Democratic Club will be hosting a luncheon 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Peridia Golf and Country Club, 4950 Peridia Blvd. The luncheon topic, an analysis of the ballot proposals, will feature local ACLU chair Peter Tannen. Chambers host breakfast on proposed amendments

SARASOTA -- The Manatee and Sarasota Chambers of Commerce have scheduled a breakfast to discuss the 11 complex statewide amendments that the Florida Legislature has placed on the November ballot 8 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Ramada Waterfront Hotel, 7150 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Speakers include Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce; and former state Sen. Pat Neal, Florida TaxWatch Research Institute chairman.

Cost: $20 for Manatee Chamber and Sarasota Chamber members; $30 all others.

Democratic women to show film on Koch brothers

MANATEE -- The Democratic Women's Club of Manatee County will be showing "The Koch Brothers Exposed" film at Braden River Library, 4915 53rd Ave. E., East Manatee, 5:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

Manatee Forum to meet at Pier 22

BRADENTON -- Manatee Forum, Republican Women Federated will be meeting at Pier 22, 1200 First Ave. W., at 6 p.m. Oct. 30.

Guest speaker Javier Manjarres, a.k.a. El Sharko, promises to tick off moderate Republicans and liberal Democrats with his discussion of politics.

The evening will also include speed campaigning -- a chance for guests and members to chat on-on-one with candidates as they move from table to table.

Cost for dinner: $20.
