ANSWERS

1 -- a. There were 60 seconds on the clock when Warrick sprinted 60 yards for a touchdown. Southeast won its first state title later that year.

2 -- c. The kick was Chase's first field-goal attempt at the varsity level, and he missed a point-after attempt earlier in the game.

3 -- b. The intended receiver on Shevin Wiggins' halfback option was Willie Taggart, now the head coach at Western Kentucky.

4 -- a. Hart and Hornes connected with 1:43 remaining to give the Noles a 13-6 win.

5 -- c. Manatee running back Mike Blakely overcame a sore left shoulder to run for four touchdowns and 150 yards to lead the comeback.

6 -- c. Southeast hadn't won a game before beating Manatee that year. The Noles wound up losing to Brandon in a Class 6A-District 8 tiebreaker and Manatee went 4-6, marking the first time since 1980 Manatee County didn't send a football team to the playoffs.

7 -- c. Shipley recovered the ball at Southeast's 29-yard line with 5:29 remaining. Carnes' 4-yard run roughly two minutes later gave the Canes a 30-26 win.

8. -- c. Though a loss to Riverview later that year cost Southeast a shot at a mythical national title, the Noles went on to win their second straight state championship.

9 -- a. McPherson threw for 126 yards in the game's first five minutes.

10 -- d. Scheduled for Sept. 3, the game was postponed in anticipation of Hurricane Frances, and the sides couldn't agree on a make-up date.

n If you got 10 right, get your ring measurements because you're a state champion.

n If you got between 6-9, congratulations on your long playoff run.

n If you got 5 right, you finished .500. Not bad.

n If you got between 0-4 right, well, hey, spring football will be here before you know it.
