Prep golf: Lakewood Ranch's win streak ends

PALM COAST -- The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs boys golf team's streak of 117 straight victories ended on Saturday.

The team suffered its first loss since finishing as state runner-up in 2010 with a seven-shot defeat to The Benjamin School and Ponte Vedra at the nine-team Olympia Titan Invitational at Hammock Beach's Ocean Course in Palm Coast.

Ramsey Touchbeery led the Mustangs (20-2) with a 76. Senior captain Ben Boulch fired a 77, and Luke Miller, Spence Schult and Danny Walker had 78s.

The Mustangs will host Riverview, St. Petersburg and Newsome, all top 10 state teams in 2011, on Wednesday at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. The even will be televised on the Bright House Sports Network Channel.
