Plenty of showers expected in Manatee today

September 10, 2012

— The forecast for Monday, from the National Weather Service: Mostly cloudy with numerous showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 80s. West winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain: 60 percent.

And in Tampa Bay, the rain has continued Monday morning as early showers are sweeping across Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, Bay News 9 reports.

According to Bay News 9 Meteorologist Josh Linker, the rains will be scattered today and more isolated north of the Bay area.

"The storms will be scattered across the Bay area today," Linker said. "But the best chances for rain will be from Tampa southward. There where the cold front coming through the area will set up shot."

The chance of rain diminishes into the week, with a 30 percent chance Tuesday and a 20 percent chance the rest of the workweek.

Temperatures throughout the week will peak in the upper 80s.
