Marauders' offense struggles in loss to St. Lucie Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE -- The Marauders fell 5-1 against the St. Lucie Mets on Thursday night at Digital Domain Park.

The Mets scored the final five runs of the game.

A pitchers' duel between Kenn Kasparek and Jacob DeGrom ended abruptly in the fifth. Carlos Paulino pinch-hit and homered on the first pitch he saw to put the Marauders on top 1-0. The Mets (31-33) had a swift answer though, as Travis Taijeron homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the inning and the Mets ended the frame with a 3-1 advantage.

The Mets added a run in the seventh inning and another in the eighth, both against Aaron Pribanic. Pribanic, a 2010 Marauder, recently returned to the roster from a rehab stint in the Gulf Coast League. Andy Vasquez pitched to the final batter of the eighth inning. Vasquez also led the Marauders' offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.

The Marauders (31-33) play their final road contest of the season on Friday at Digital Domain Park. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. and can be heard live online at BradentonMarauders.com.
