BRADENTON -- Bradenton Marauders General Manager Trevor Gooby may be able to deliver babies, but he can't change the weather.
Because of approaching Tropical Storm Isaac, the Marauders announced Saturday that they are moving the "Babies on Deck" Bobble Baby giveaway from Tuesday to Saturday.
The giveaway, presented by Manatee Memorial Hospital and Anna Maria Oyster Bar, commemorates Feb. 28, the night Gooby helped deliver Latasha Kirk's baby at McKechnie Field during a preseason open house.
"We know our fan base is very excited about the Bobble Babies, and after careful consideration we have decided to change the date of the giveaway," Gooby said. "We don't want our fans rushing out to get a giveaway item on a night that is supposed to be a joyous celebration of motherhood, but could potentially present very dangerous driving conditions."
The three-game series between the Marauders and the Fort Myers Miracle scheduled to begin Monday is still on schedule. Games will begin at 6:30 p.m .with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
Fans planning to attend any games in the series are urged to check Bradenton.com and BradentonMarauders.com frequently for potential schedule changes caused by the weather.
Unredeemed tickets to Tuesday's game will be honored Saturday. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a limited edition Trevor Gooby Bobble Baby.
