BRADENTON The Bradenton Marauders could not hold off the thundering bats of the Jupiter Hammerheads, falling in Sundays series finale at McKechnie Field 10-6. Bradenton falls to 1.5 games back of the Hammerheads in the South Division standings. The Marauders (28-27) rallied from a pair of early deficits in the game. Bradenton plated four in the second to take a 4-1 lead. Justin Howard and Kirk Singer had RBI hits for Bradenton in the rally. Kenn Kasparek started the game strong, but in the fourth inning the right hander faltered, surrendering five runs on seven hits and being chased from the game after 3 2/3 innings. Kasparek struck out five and left with the Marauders trailing 6-4. Andy Vasquez drew the Marauders even with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. Vasquezs fifth homer was his first home run with a runner on this season. Jupiter starter Robert Morey hung around long enough to earn the win. Morey pitched five innings, allowing six runs, only three of which were earned, and struck out two. Three Jupiter relievers blanked the Marauders over the final four innings. Marcell Ozuna completed another strong offensive series against Bradenton by putting the Hammerheads ahead for good. Ozunas bases-loaded double off Jhonathan Ramos in the sixth gave Jupiter (29-25) an 8-6 lead. Brian McConkey followed with a two-RBI single for the final margin. Eight different Hammerheads drove in a run in the game. Ozuna and McConkey each drove in two. Vasquez finished 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs to lead the Marauders offensively. Monday is the final off day in the Florida State League schedule. The Marauders embark on a six-game road trip starting on Tuesday at Fort Myers.
