'Countdown to the Blues' in Bradenton continues with Nitro and Sarasota Slim

August 16, 2012

Bradenton Blues Festival organizer Realize Bradenton and Sarasota Guitar Company continue the "Countdown to the Blues" free concert series Sunday with a performance by singer/guitarist Sarasota Slim and harmonica player Nitro Bozeman.

Hardage, who grew up in Sarasota, toured with Lucky Peterson and earned his "Sarasota Slim" nickname from local legend Rock Bottom.

Bozeman, known as "Lil Red" in his native Chicago, has been playing harmonica in front of audiences for more than 60 years. He will show off the styles he perfected over the decades, including his special trick of playing two harps at the same time.

The inaugural Bradenton Blues Festival is Dec. 1 in downtown Bradenton.

Details: 5 p.m. Aug. 19, Sarasota Guitar Company, 2111 Cortez Road, Bradenton. Tickets: Free. Information: 941-896-9741 or www.sarasotaguitarcompany.com.
