Clumps of seaweed continue to gather on Coquina Beach as they wash ashore Thursday evening. The beach is slated for cleanup Friday morning. Crews are mostly hand-raking, but county officials are seeking permission from the state Department of Environmental Protection to use more aggressive beach raking methods, while still sparing turtle nesting areas and other flora important to wildlife, according to Cindy Turner, the Manatee County director of parks and recreation.
