July 31, 2012

MANATEE -- A woman got away with nothing after she tried to rob cashiers at two Walmart stores in Manatee County according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Shortly after midnight, the suspect entered the store at 5810 Ranch Lake Blvd., near the Interstate 75-State Road 70 interchange, approached cashier, implied she was armed and demanded money, according to a news release.

The cashier was unable to open the register, and the suspect fled in a waiting vehicle driven by an accomplice.

No money was taken and no one was hurt.

About 20 minutes later, and with the same results, the woman tried to rob a cashier at the Walmart store at 2911 53rd Ave. E., at the intersection with U.S. 301. The second incident was not reported until Tuesday afternoon, according to the sheriff's office.

Security video shows to appear the same suspect in both cases, the sheriff's office said.

The woman was described as being between 25 and 30 years old, standing 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds. The getaway car was described as a silver four-door sedan, according to the report.

Anyone with information can call the sheriff's office at (941) 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
