The Kiss and Motley Crue summer tour comes to the Ask Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa on Saturday after launching about a week ago in Virginia.
Early reviews note that Crue opens with a performance of 1980s hits punched up by Tommy Lee's roller-coaster drum set and plenty of lights, smoke, fire and dancing backup singers.
Kiss runs through a batch of sing along ditties mostly from the 1970s starting with "Detroit City" and ending with "Rock and Roll All Nite," just as the makeup and platform shoe-wearing band has done for decades.
Bassist/reality TV star Gene Simmons reportedly spits blood during his band's new single "Hell and Hallelujah."
Details: 7:30 p.m. July 28, Ask Gary Amphitheatre, 4802 N. U.S. Highway 301, Tampa. Tickets: $35-$185. Information: 813-287-8844 or www.ticketmaster.com.
