Tarpon Pointe Grill & Tiki Bar, the destination spot on the Manatee River which has found success despite complaints from noise-sensitive neighbors, will celebrate its first anniversary this weekend in style.
For those unfamiliar, Tarpon Pointe is a waterfront playground for children of all ages.
It features two spacious tiki bars, full kitchen, tables for outdoor dining and an upstairs deck with postcard views of the river and downtown Bradenton.
There are also sand volleyball courts and places to play the popular lawn game cornhole,
As for the "Guest Appreciation Weekend Celebration," the band Whiskey Blind kicks the festivities off Friday with a 6-10 p.m. performance.
On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., family fun includes a water slide, bounce house and games.
The same day, 106.5 CTQ's Maverick and Lulu will make an appearance for "Lulu's Luau" from 3 to 6 p.m.
Saturday closes with a performance by Manatee-Sarasota party band, Big Daddy, from 6 to 10 p.m.
The volleyball, cornhole and live entertainment will continue from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
Two-time former NBA heavyweight champion pugilist China Smith will host a youth boxing clinic at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
There will be drink specials and giveaways all weekend long.
