LAKEWOOD RANCH -- The southbound exit of Legacy Boulevard at University Parkway is now open to all traffic, Manatee County Public Works announced Monday morning.

The gate was closed Friday after a vehicle crashes into Legacy guard house and damaged the building.

Lakewood Ranch Country Club residents were redirected to Masters Avenue east or west, Players Drive or Balmoral, Lakewood Ranch operations director Ryan Heise said Friday.

At about 7 p.m. Friday, a truck hauling a trailer owned by a private residential contractor ran into the guard house overhang, Heise said.

After a Manatee County government building inspector reviewed the damage, it was decided the guard house should be closed to traffic exiting south on Legacy Boulevard until it was deemed safe, Heise said.

“The building inspector had concerns about structural damage to the building so they closed it down,” Heise said. “You can enter, but you can’t exit.
