MANATEE COUNTY

n Ninth Street West from 13th to 17th avenues: scheduled to close 8 a.m.-2 p.m. today due to Pirate Fest at McKechnie Field.

n 29th Street Northwest from First Avenue West to Riverview Boulevard: scheduled to close 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. March 26 for a sewer clean-out.

n Virginia Drive: The northbound lane between Seventh and Ninth avenues west will be closed through March for the Wares Creek dredging project.

n Traffic signals: Manatee County officials are asking drivers to use extra caution on major thoroughfares in coming months as traffic signals at large intersectionsare adjusted and retimed as the first major implementation of the Advanced Traffic Management System.

n State Road 789 (Gulf Drive) at Longboat Key Pass Bridge: An improvement project -- including bridge repair, painting and sidewalk construction -- is under way, with temporary nighttime lane closures 10 p.m.-6 a.m. (excluding 10 p.m. Fridays-6 a.m. Sundays). Motorists are advised to obey speed limit and exercise extreme caution. This project is anticipated for completion in the spring.
