Bradenton man arrested in Mississippi on pot charges
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. -- A Bradenton man was charged Wednesday with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance when Mississippi deputies found 20 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of his rented car, authorities said.
Marcus Morgan, 32, was eastbound on Interstate 10 in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when deputy Darrell Thornton stopped him about 4:30 p.m. for following too close and speeding, Sheriff Mike Byrd said.
Morgan told the deputy about the stash of pot in the car.
The vehicle was rented by Morgan’s passenger, Lorinda Morneau, who gave consent for a search.
Thornton found the marijuana in a black bag in the trunk and turned it over to the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County, Byrd said. Morgan was taken to Jackson County jail.
