BRADENTON A man was fatally struck in a hit and run accident during the early hours of Saturday, Bradenton police said.

At about 2 a.m., the man was struck by a car in the 1700 block of 17th Avenue West, said Bradenton police Sgt. Eddie Weldon. The car drove off.

There are no witnesses to the incident, Weldon said, and a description of the car is not available. A driver passing by called 911.

Police found the man lying on the street, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not been able to identify the victim. He is described as being in his late 40s or early 50s, Weldon said. The victim also has various tattoos, including a skull with a cowboy hat on his right arm, a heart with the name “Cathy” on his left arm, and a large crucifix on his chest.

Anyone with information on the hit and run or the man’s identity is asked to call Weldon, 941-932-9318.
